Day 15 Mataranka
Imagine yourself on a trip through outback Australia. It’s hot (sometimes), it’s dusty, it’s sparsely populated, it lacks vegetation, it’s a harsh place. Now, imagine you happen upon an oasis. It’s a natural hot spring. Water flows in copious quantities at 34 degrees. The water flows and forms a natural, slow moving stream. The stream meanders through a densely vegetated area with palm trees, flowers, gum trees and various other beautiful plants. Now, imagine yourself slowly floating along in that stream. The water has carved a deep trench that is clear of obstacles so you can relax, lie back and stare at the trees, flowers, birds and other wildlife as you drift along with the current in the soothing warm water. Luckily, you have your trusty foam flotation device to carry you along on the current. Warm water laps along your sides as you almost doze quietly amongst the tranquil scene. Then, SPLASH, Jasmine jumps into the water next to you. Well, it was good while it lasted. Mataranka, specifically Bitter Springs, is a little slice of heaven. We only planned to stay a day, maybe two. Three please, maybe more.
