Day 22 Mary River to Darwin
One of the most notable things at the park in Mary River is the grass. The last few weeks have been spent walking on rocks or red dirt. The lush, green grass is a nice change of pace. Water is plentiful so we spray some of the dust off the van and our annex floor. The main attractions at the park (other than the pool, of course) are the resident crocodiles. A 4 metre salty and a 2 metre freshy live in adjacent cages and are a big hit. Funnily, their neighbors are a few pigs and buffalo. They keep the kids amused. The drive to Darwin is a short one of under an hour so school is quickly completed to be ready for the 3 pools at the next caravan park. We’re meeting the families from Mataranka and the air is thick with kid excitement. We’re planning at least 4 nights in Darwin so it will be a nice change of pace for a few days before we begin our trek South.
