Day 29 Katherine

First up on the agenda today is to move camp. Handbrake had been warned the caravan park at Katherine Gorge was full of bats and their guano, and we would do better to camp in town. A quick trip to survey the area reveals that is no longer the case and so we move in order to be closer to the gorge. The Muir family are arriving later from WA, so we will spend the day resting, shopping and catching up on various jobs. The Muirs left Melbourne at the beginning of July and travelled a similar route as us up to Darwin. When they left Darwin, they headed west across WA and the Gibb River Road to Broome, then back up to the Bungle Bungles and we will see them in Katherine before they continue east to Queensland and down the east coast of Australia. Their kids are similar ages as ours and we always have a good time at our semi-regular catch ups. Tomorrow we’ll take a cruise up three of Katherine’s Gorges.
